Our History
Aviation & Marine Safety Solutions International, LLC. (AvMaSSI) was founded in 2014 by Lou Sorrentino and supported by Peter White (London), José Muñoz, Paul Cubillos (Palm Beach), and Michael Smith (Northern California). We provide the leadership and subject matter expertise to address our client’s needs and expectations.
The Leadership Team at AvMaSSI has deep roots within the global aviation community, supporting civil aviation authorities, OEMs, airlines, airports, commercial charter and private operators, MROs, FBOs, and specialized service providers. AvMaSSI maintains the expertise and global reach to provide bespoke solutions in all areas of the aviation marketplace.
While AvMaSSI may be a new name within the safety and operational excellence world, the core team has worked within the industry for over 35 years. Each of our team members brings a wealth of expertise centered on a keen understanding of theory and application within the real world. They provide solutions designed for each client, around each client’s specific needs and the operational environment – at all times, embodying a culture of quality, safety, and operational excellence that is buttressed by precise guidance.
From the experiences of our core team, we came together to form the SH&E Safety Practice, led by Lou Sorrentino from 1999. The team continued to grow and excelled in providing bespoke services to operators, governments, airlines, airports, and heads of state – always focused on professional service delivery backed by a sound understanding of regulations and best practices.
ICF International acquired the privately held SH&E organization, and the Safety Practice flourished. ICF International became a well-known name and leader, positively impacting the aerospace industry because of our commitment to safety.
Lou acquired the Safety Practice from ICF and formed Aviation & Marine Safety Solutions International – AvMaSSI. As an independent company, we continue to successfully expand the Safety Practice with a commitment to safety and excellence in leadership to correlate positively with culture and climate attributes that support good safety outcomes for our clients. In addition to its aviation heritage, AvMaSSI now also serves the marine marketplace, providing bespoke safety and security services to seaports, marinas, managed vessels, and super yachts worldwide.
