Wayne Austin's Experience:
Mr. Austin brings years of maritime and Super Yacht operational experience to AMSSI and is a practitioner of the Safety Architecture Approach to Operational Excellence. Mr. Austin currently holds an Inshore Launchmaster Ticket (CEC), New Zealand MEC 5 engineers ticket, MCA Y3 engineering ticket STCW 95, Australian MED 1, and a Yachtmaster Offshore STCW 95.
Prior to joining AMSSI, Mr. Austin was on a relief position back onboard the MY Cuor Di Leone as Temp Chief Engineer.
As an engineer for a 39M New build Motor Yacht by Alloy Yachts in Auckland, NZ, his duties involved the requisition of all the engineering spares and tools for the vessel. During the handover period it also involved numerous sea trials and development tests to satisfy the owners requirements.
Onboard 5 Fishes as Chief Engineer, Mr. Austin oversaw a 2nd Engineer and maintained a hands on role due to equipment age and general condition of the vessel. During the yard period the vessel, Mr. Austin managed some major works to bring it back to a high and safe standard.
Mr. Austin completed 14 months onboard MY Keri Lee as Chief Engineer. And during the yard period, Mr. Austin was heavily involved in overseeing the refit, survey and sea trials. The vessel has been extensively used over the past 3 years with limited yard time. Daily maintenance and upkeep of the vessels machinery onboard in remote locations in the Pacific and Northern Australia.
