Peter White Area of Specialization:

Mr. White’s broad and extensive experience in the air transportation industry enables him to specialize in operational safety, aircraft maintenance, ground operations and asset management for airlines, maintenance repair and overhaul companies, lessors and the finance community. His expertise includes safety oversight and external auditing, project management, strategic planning, technical operations, commercial negotiating, financial control, and international joint venture development. Mr. White is an experienced airline operations, maintenance organization and people manager who has well-developed motivating, communicating, multi-cultural team leading and union negotiating skills. 

Prior to becoming one of the founding members of Aviation & Marine Safety Solutions International (AvMaSSI) in 2014, Peter provided senior level direction and oversight of many ICF SH&E Air Operator and Ground Handling Service Provider projects such as IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) of airlines, IATA Safety Audit of Ground Operations (ISAGO), the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), Corporate Operators Safety Assessments for major corporations and has conducted these in every continent for the past sixteen years.  He has provided operational and maintenance productivity improvement expertise to both airlines and Maintenance and Repair Organizations. He has also provided aircraft appraisal and asset management expertise to aircraft owners and operators.

During his tenure at ICF SH&E, Peter was  a key member of the team developing the following core areas of expertise:

  • IATA Audit Organization (AO) accreditation with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Program and IATA’s Safety Audit for Operations (ISAGO);

  • Supplemental Lift/Vendor Audit Program – Developed a scheduled audit program to provide focused operational safety, quality and security audits of vendors supporting a client’s operational needs; and

  • IATA Environmental Assessment Audit Organization (EAO) within the IATA Environmental Assessment Program (IEnvA) - transitioning to AvMaSSI.

Peter supported the development and conduct of the US code-share auditing program for airlines using the SH&E developed “Safety ArchitectureTM” methodology which became the model for the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program. Peter is the Manager of Auditing Programs Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa and is a registered Evaluator and Lead Auditor for IOSA as well as IATA’s Safety Audit Ground Operations (ISAGO) program for FBO/Ground Handler Headquarter Audits.

Background:

Prior to joining AvMaSSI, Mr. White served a Principal in the ICF SH&E Aviation Safety, Security & Regulatory Compliance Practice, managing the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program under the direction of Lou Sorrentino, Senior Vice President.

Prior to ICF SH&E, Mr. White spent 26 years in airlines. 

General Manager of China Aircraft Services Ltd (CASL) – 1994-1997.  CASL is a line maintenance, ground handling and aircraft cleaning joint-venture, in Hong Kong.  He was Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all aspects of the company set up.

Line Maintenance Manager Intercontinental – 1992-1994 – British Airways.  Mr. White was responsible for maintenance of BA aircraft at 167 line stations around the world and about 500 engineers.

Manager Maintenance Control Centre – 1989-1992 – British Airways.  Mr White was responsible for the organization which managed the operational serviceability of the BA fleet worldwide.

Production Planning and Control Manager – 1988-1989 – British Airways.  Mr White was responsible for planning maintenance and spare parts holdings at all BA line stations worldwide.

Mr. White began his career with British Caledonian Airways (BCAL) 1971-1988, starting as a sponsored undergraduate, becoming a licensed engineer, Powerplant Engineering Manager and Aircraft Maintenance Planning Manager.
